Westmead Hospital is the principal referral hospital for western Sydney, renowned for its comprehensive, highly specialised and complex services provided to its community, state-wide and nationally.
The Westmead Redevelopment project is one of the biggest health projects in NSW. At 14 storeys tall, the new Westmead Central Acute Services Building is one of the tallest hospital buildings in Australia. Nearly 30 per cent of the existing hospital will be renovated between 2017 and 2022.
The NSW Government is investing more than $1 billion to redevelop the Westmead Health Precinct. The project aims at increasing service integration between the adult’s and children’s hospitals.
It also aims at enabling greater integration of education, research and health services delivery through a partnership with the University of Sydney providing increased research space in the new Central Acute Services Building.
The project ensures the hospital continues to be a world leader in providing care for sick children and enables the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network to continue to help children and young people live their healthiest lives.
The need of a packaged airconditioning unit arose from the distributor – Mcintosh Airconditioning Distribution Pty Ltd for the Westmead Redevelopment project.
For the specific needs of this project Armcor put forward its XEP series which works on the concept of combining the efficiency of heat exchange integrated with a packaged airconditioning system to provide a total solution to temperature control for applications that require substantial or full fresh air.
The unit XEP1500P3 with a capacity of 1500 l/sec and a nominal compressor capacity of 37kw, was made readily available to suit external roof top or ground level application. This unit assembled and supplied included energy-saving EC Plug Fans and an option of Enthalpy heat exchange media.
With the engineering and manufacturing expertise the project was delivered hassle-free on time.
