The Churches of Christ in Queensland constructed a new head office campus on its existing hillside Kenmore location. The complex incorporates flexible office configurations, training and meeting spaces with onsite parking. Founded in 1964 on the current site, Kenmore Christian College provided theological training to numerous students until 1997, with a peak enrolment of 52 full-time students in 1979.
With environment and sustainability a priority, Churches of Christ in Queensland aimed for the highest possible energy efficiency rating, with features including a large solar panel array, geothermal air conditioning, photovoltaic energy generation and even provision for electric vehicles.
The organisation also took steps to minimise environmental impacts on wildlife and neighbouring properties with noise and dust mitigation a factor in the planning for the build.
The latest addition includes a spacious community centre, featuring a café, along with a chapel and landscaped gardens.
In line with the energy efficient design, Armcor was commissioned to build an ERV packaged airconditioning unit to supply the Community / Function / Conference Centre.
With the high requirement for fresh air the equipment utilises 3 compressors to provided staged control of the 140kW capacity allowing 7000 l/sec of fresh air to be introduced into the centre. The high performing heat recovery modules give the maximum heat recovery and economy bypass dampers provide the advantage of ‘free cooling’ when the ambient conditions are right.
