Peak Downs is a large open cut coal mine in Queensland located east of McKay. It is one of seven mines in Bowen Basin owned by the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, Australia’s largest coal miner and exporter.
The first enquiry from the consulting engineer requested assistance with the design of equipment for a mining laboratory with 100% outdoor air and some very specific requirements around capacity, reheat and condenser design temperatures.
The Armcor Sales and Engineering teams worked together for five months before the order was placed by the contractor for a Humidity and Temperature Control unit (HTC) with 850 l/sec and two digital compressors to give 20-100% capacity control.
The controls included a fan pressure controller, inbuilt adjustable temperature controller, programmable time clock, outdoor enthalpy sensor and re-heat controls.
