Located 75 kilometres south-east from Melbourne near Crib Point, on Western Port Bay, HMAS Cerberus occupies over 1,500 hectares and includes training and recreational facilities, office and living-in accommodation, two chapels and a marina. Following an engineering assessment on the condition, capacity and compliance of the facilities and infrastructure at HMAS Cerberus in 2013, the Department of Defence committed $463.1 million to the redevelopment and upgrade of the base’s training, support and accommodation facilities. The project is being delivered by managing contractor Lendlease in two phases.
A.G. Coombs Projects was engaged by Lendlease as head contractor on this unique aspect of the overall project. These new facilities included a simulator control building, a dynamic leak-stop-repair simulator, a gas-fired diesel firefighting simulator and a portable extinguisher practical training fire pit. Armcor was proud to be associated with the HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment Project for delivering our best state of the art, energy efficient solutions for fresh air in each building. Armcor provided four packaged XEC Units located in the main plantroom. With the collaboration of A.G. Coombs, we delivered the 4 XEC Units to suit the requirements ranging from 2500 l/sec to 4500 l/sec, all with chilled and hot water coils and sensible heat exchange media.
Armcor’s XEC series combine ERV with an inbuilt chilled water coils to condition the air following the heat recovery process. The unit configuration suits external rooftop or plant room applications and is available with forward curved centrifugal fans or energy saving EC Plug Fans and an option of enthalpy or sensible plate heat exchange media.
