Selecting equipment that will control the indoor atmosphere where valuable documents are stored is a critical challenge. Humidity is just as important as temperature control in Library archive facilities.
The importance of archive storage is evidenced by the University of Queensland Archive Warehouse, which is a purpose-built, environmentally-controlled facility, that can store and protect hundreds of thousands of books, journals, documents, and archives. The facility is one of the largest University Library storage sites in Australia and provides over 33 kilometres of storage.
The St Lucia campus library refurbish included new air conditioning equipment with specific requirements
Close collaboration between Armcor and Dewpoint resolved the situation with a purpose-built humidity and temperature control unit with 5000 l/sec airflow and 3 stage cooling with a total capacity of 110kW. With an external condenser, high level controls, digital compressors and reheat coils, the solution is a long-term answer to the precise indoor air control requirements.
