Melbourne’s Trades Hall is significant for its role in Victorian and Australian political history, and for its associations with working class politics and activism. It is Australia’s oldest and largest trades hall built in several stages from 1873-1926.
It is a prominent Carlton landmark, and has a grant of $10 million for essential conservation works that include the specialist restoration works to key interior spaces including the Old Council Chamber, and new Ballroom as well as the investigation and protection of decorative finishes within the New Council Chamber. The Trades Hall hosts a wide variety of tenants and events and the works will allow new spaces to be opened and accessed by the public.
Taking into consideration the specialist needs of a heritage building and the updated requirements for energy efficient air conditioning, Armcor supplied a packaged ERV to condition the fresh air requirements for the
– New Ballroom System
– New Council Chamber System
Both units included ‘counterflow’ energy recovery media, energy efficient EC plug fans, dual compressors and Viking controllers.
Getting down to the details of special ‘out of hours’ delivery schedule to meet the street shutdown crane lift, Armcor worked with the contractor to give the best possible experience.
