Victoria’s Puckapunyal Military Area is the Australian Army’s centre for combat arms doctrinal development and training. It supports a large workforce of personnel, units, public servants and accompanying family members.
Puckapunyal is now a major base located on an area of over 37,000 hectares, approximately 100 kilometres north of Melbourne, the base supports a large number of military personnel and a permanent resident population.
The project involves the design and the construction of a new sports and health facility at the Puckapunyal, 100 kilometres north of Melbourne.
The Department of Defence has awarded a contract to design and build the Health & Wellbeing Centre at Puckapunyal in Victoria.
When finished, the facility will feature a 50-metre indoor swimming pool, a multi-functional weights and cardio area, external training areas, support, storage, administrative spaces and associated car parks.
The project will also include the demolition of existing pool and gym buildings after the finalisation of the main build.
The need of two External Mount Air handling ERV units arose from the Victorian contractor for the indoor swimming pool area of the Puckapunyal Health and Wellbeing Centre.
The engineering and design team at Armcor worked with the contractor to come up with the 2 units- XEC14000P3 and XEC1600P3 with inbuild hot water coils to condition the air following the heat recovery process.
The XEC14000 with a capacity of 14000 l/sec, energy saving EC plug fans, polypropylene heat exchange media and epoxy coated internals was slotted into the production line to be manufactured at Armcor’s manufacturing factory in Broadmeadows.
Another XEC series unit- XEC1600P3 was also engineered and designed as per project requirements and details with a capacity of 1600l/sec, energy saving EC plug fans and an enthalpy heat exchange media.
