The Coalition Government announced that FDC Construction and Fitout (QLD) Pty Ltd has been awarded $23.5 million to build the CQUniversity School of Mining at the North Rockhampton campus. The new school will support Queenslanders to get an education that leads to a career in the mining industry. The School of Advanced Manufacturing in Gladstone will be complemented by a School of Mining at CQUniversity’s Rockhampton North campus, with work set to commence on that site in the coming weeks.
This project will deliver world-class facilities and technology in the Rockhampton and Gladstone regions, support the education of the workforces of tomorrow, and drive future economic growth as we recover from COVID-19.
The new buildings will incorporate emerging technologies like virtual reality, drone operations and 3D printing, to teach skills in critical disciplines like metal fabrication, gas processing and machine fitting. Both the Gladstone and Rockhampton facilities will be constructed by FDC Construction and Fitout (QLD) Pty Ltd.
Armcor supplied two packaged air-conditioning energy recovery ventilator (ERV) units to service the world-class facilities and technology in the Rockhampton and Gladstone regions.
Designed to provide the necessary fresh air while also recovering energy from exhaust air, the great advantage of the units is that heating and cooling is packaged together in one unit, making installation and servicing simple and efficient. XEP1200P3, with the standard capacity of 1200l/sec and nominal compressor speed of 27Kw, and XEP2500P3 with the standard capacity of 2500l/sec and nominal compressor speed of 52Kw, were manufactured and supplied to the Rockhampton facility included energy-saving EC Plug Fans and the enthalpy heat exchange media.
Armcor worked in conjunction with its contractor, Energy Air (Qld) Pty Ltd, to further design and deliver four of the XCM’s Compact Multiflow energy recovery units to the state-of-the-art CQUniversity School of Mining and Manufacturing at Gladstone and Rockhampton. Two units of XCM625C1 and one each of XCM425CI and XCM925C1 were slotted into production and delivered to the Gladstone site.
With an impeccable design and production of the 6 energy recovery units, Armcor was glad to be able to successfully contribute towards the setting for engaged industry research that will advance mining and manufacturing in the Central Queensland region.
