Subiaco is an established suburb with a mix of residential and commercial areas. Heritage and contemporary architecture abound and echo the diversity of the community and the vitality of the suburb.
The first stage of the College includes general classrooms; specialist workshops, laboratories and studios for science, technology, engineering, design and food courses; health and physical education learning areas; student services; a library resource centre; a lecture theatre; and a cafeteria with terraced dining area. Internal courtyards and playing courts enhance the campus.
Bob Hawke College – Stage 2 is the next stage of the State Government’s flagship secondary school.
Worth $40million, stage two will see the addition of spaces for students to showcase their creative talents, including a performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, music rooms and two state-of-the-art media studios. It will also see the school’s capacity double to 2,000 students. Facilities are expected to open for the 2023 school year.
Located on the northern end of the college’s Subiaco site, the build will also include landscaped areas and a roof terrace for students to enjoy at break times. The second stage of works will add to the already highly acclaimed college facilities which opened at the start of 2020.
The College is the first Western Australian public school to be built with a 4-star Green Star* sustainability rating.
The need of Humidity and Temperature Control units was raised by the contractor – Associated Airconditioning for Stage 2 fit outs of the Theatre of the State Government’s flagship secondary school- Bob Hawke College. Armcor provided a practical solution for temperature and humidity control where there is a significant requirement for fresh air. Where standard airconditioning systems cope well with recirculated return air temperatures up to 24oC, the HTC Unit can be designed to cope with much higher ‘air on’ conditions.
Armcor provided two units- one that was internally fitted and the other that was with the condenser and fitted externally. With a capacity of 3000 l/sec and cooling capacity of 120 kW the HTC3000P3-120P3 was put into production schedule along with HTC3000-90P3 with a capacity of 3000 l/sec and a cooling capacity of 90 Kw.
