ENERGY RECOVERY AND EVAPORATIVE COOLING COMBINED FOR MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY IN SA HYDROTHERAPY PROJECT.
Adelaide’s first dedicated hydrotherapy facility is opening in Welland in July 2020. Hydrotherapy is the use of water for therapy and treatment of various conditions.
Water has the unique ability to decrease the effects of gravity, and the Adelaide Hydrotherapy pool temperature ranges between 33–36ºC, which is warmer than the usual swimming pool, providing the perfect environment for healing.
The resultant design incorporated an energy recovery process with the addition of 100mm thick evaporative pads to cool the return air before it passed through the energy recovery heat exchanger media. Coupled with an inbuilt hot water coil for winter heating, two packaged units were designed and built to suit this specific project to provide maximum energy saving efficiencies.
The requirement for full fresh air combined with high indoor humidity and temperatures, heated indoor pools required some specific engineering.
